We’ve seen drive-thru church before, but a drive-in church, well that’s something new. It’s the Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church in Daytona Beach Shores, Fla. Apparently it goes back to 1953. So it’s not new.

Robert Schuller’s ministry started out as a drive in church before he built the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove CA.

Yep, I’ve been to the Daytona Drive-In church. What can I say? It’s like a drive-in. My family owns a condo on the beach a few blocks away from it. It’s the only drive-in church I’ve ever been to. And, what a good place to have it too..with bike week and all. :)

The Drive-In Christian Church
I saw this church near the beach one year while in Florida some years back. Right across from the beach I thought it was an interesting approach. It wasn’t Sunday when we were there so we drove by the entrance shack. Apparently you pick up your …

The old Drive-In Theater in my hometown on Ohio used to do that on Sunday morning for people, especially for tourists.

where in Ohio was the drive-in church? and what type? if Michigan can have one why can’t we? Went to the Disciples of Christ church in Daytona Beach South 3 time when there during the winter and loved it –had everything we do inside except I felt closer by being outside!

Whoa… my family used to attend that church every year when we were in DBC for vacation. It was great.. you could roll in your pajamas, and just tune the radio to a certain channel and pick up the music (which was horrible traditionally), and the sermon.
Another cool thing…. guys in golf carts drive car to car to collect the offering :)

when I was there the “ushers” who collected offering walked down the rows of cars – the weekly bulletin indicated 2 services each Sunday and a total offering of $7,000 or more each wk with around 750-825 attending/wk

I’m a guest pianist tomorrow at a drive-in church here in southern California. The main congo is in the building, but the big window opens up and they actually acknowledge those tuning in on their radios.

my daughter lives in California and my son is thinking of moving to Silicon Valley next yr – he works in IT – where is your church in southern California and what type? In FL the minister walks out on a balcony to give his sermon and – yes, we listened via radio station to him, choir, and could join in as words in bulletin – if I’m visiting (or move) to Calif I’d like to know where it is –

We attended that church when in Daytona. We liked it. Check out the post I made. Could God be in this?

What a great and interesting approach!
You know, it’s funny, I wondered about this when I was a kid. It was Easter and the Catholic Church we attended in Kennesaw, GA was always packed, and I mentioned to my family how interesting and great it would be that if all seating/standing space inside the church was exhausted, that there should be a special parking lot (with those speaker posts you see at movie drive-in’s) for those who just want to sit in their cars and listen to the service.
