Hyperlocal Outreach & Evangelism

Hyperlocal Outreach & Evangelism

February 5, 2018 by

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

Would you be? Could you be? Won’t you be my neighbor?

Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood? The people that you meet each day…

When it comes to outreach and evangelism, many churches take a scatter-shot approach to try to get their message out to the most people as possible, hoping a handful of them will show up on a Sunday morning. This month, we’re encouraging our Courageous Storytellers to think a bit differently: hyperlocally.

Hyperlocal allows us to focus our efforts on a specific and targeted area, such as the neighborhoods immediately surrounding our church buildings. Hyperlocal gives us permission to think smaller. Hyperlocal challenges us to equip our congregation—each individual member—to think like an evangelist, rather than leaving things up to the professional Christians on Sunday mornings.

From fliers posted at our local coffee shop to thoughtfully targeted Facebook Ads, hyperlocal is far less about marketing and far more about outreach. It’s less about getting people to show on Sunday mornings and more about introducing people to Jesus.

Here’s what we have for our Courageous Storytellers this month:

  1. 4 tips to help you create an effective hyperlocal content marketing plan.
  2. A checklist of free opportunities to let your community know what’s happening at your church.
  3. A list of 52 hyperlocal evangelism ideas to share with your church.
  4. A step-by-step guide for developing a meaningful relationship with a local school.
  5. A done-for-you booklet to teach your congregation how to behave on social media.
  6. Practical tips for building an invitational culture.
  7. 13 ways your church can show your community they matter.
  8. A guide to Google My Business for churches.
  9. An inspirational look at how more than a dozen churches have gone hyperlocal.
  10. A checklist for using Facebook Ads to more effectively reach your community.
  11. Recommendations for paid hyperlocal advertising.
  12. Ready-to-post social media graphics.
