Back to the Basics: New Courageous Storytellers Resources

Back to the Basics: New Courageous Storytellers Resources

May 1, 2019 by

Don’t write this month off. We’ve got some incredibly helpful back to basics resources for our Courageous Storytellers members.

We’re all professionals here, and some of you have been around church communication for a while now. Going back to focus on some of the foundations of our field may seem a little basic and elementary, but know this: reviews and tune-ups are what keep us in the game long-term. The rules and trends of marketing and communication change so darn quickly, and it’s important for us to always keep a humble spirit open to learning and trying new things.

We always have some newbies in this group, and if you’re just getting started in your role, I think you’ll find this collection of resources to be super helpful as you get your ministry off the ground. And if you have been around the block a few times? We were intentional in crafting these pieces through the lens of “best practices as of right now.” Even if you have established marketing tools and your policies are running smoothly, I think you’ll find some new nuggets and gems to apply to your work and your teams.

Basics Resources

We have three webinars this month! We recently had conversations with:

  • JP Pokluda about how to keep our sanity and be effective in ministry long-term.
  • The “Two Church Girls” (Jeanette Yates & Meghan Howard) talk us through some of the most important lessons they’ve learned in church communication, plus share details about free books that Courageous Storytellers members have access to!
  • Kelvin Co recently went from having 70 volunteers on his team to over 200. How did he pull that off, and why is biblical discipleship part of his volunteer strategy? Short answer: This guy is really smart.

Along with those, we also have these new resources:

  • What you need to know about bulletins.
  • What you need to know about email newsletters.
  • What you need to know about websites.
  • What you need to know about social media.
  • What you need to know about announcements.
  • 7 steps to evaluate your communication strategy.
  • Keep on learnin’: How church communicators can get ongoing education.

Check It Out

Sometimes you need to refocus yourself on the basics. Check out this month’s back to the basics resources, and if you’re not a member of Courageous Storytellers, consider joining.
