Jared Brandon is the director of communications at Parker Hill Church in Scranton, Pa.
What’s your favorite part about celebrating Easter at your church?
I get really excited that there are people who will walk into our church this Easter as broken, hopeless messes, and will walk out healed and filled with a hope they could never have imagined. This one day can change them forever!
Share one cool way your church is spreading the word about Easter this year:
This year we launched a one-page microsite on a subdomain of our website. All of our communication channels (platform, print, social, advertising, etc.) point to that domain. This was a ‘test the waters’ sort of thing while our new site is being developed. I wanted potential guests to have a better first impression of our church than our existing site can currently provide. Publishing a one-page WordPress theme was the quickest way I could conceive of achieving that.
How do you keep your focus on the joy of Easter amid the stress of looming deadlines and long hours?
I don’t always—I often find myself distracted and disheartened by the mighty to-do list. But when I see that I’ve gotten off track and my stress level is high, I try to take a step back, pray and talk with my coworkers who are dealing with the same thing.
