Easter Effort: Meeting in a Shopping Center

Easter Effort: Meeting in a Shopping Center

What’s your favorite part about celebrating Easter at your church?

This is the second year that we will celebrate Easter with outdoor services. We are portable and currently meet in a movie theater, but for Easter we move our services outside into the shopping center. We’ve found it’s a great way to let our community know that we are there and invite them to join us. It has a very nostalgic vibe, which our people appreciate.

Share one cool way your church is spreading the word about Easter this year:

We relied primarily on social media and personal invites. We produced a video that explained how to and how not to use invite cards as a fun way to encourage our church to use them. The video showed good ways, like walking up to your neighbor handing them an invite card and bad ways like driving by and pelting your neighbors with stacks of invite cards. We kept our social media very visual with pictures, graphics and video.

How do you keep your focus on the joy of Easter amid the stress of looming deadlines and long hours?

Invest more time focusing on the gospel than the deadlines. It’s easy to get sidetracked by getting it done. Give yourself space (by planning ahead!) during the week of Easter to pray and get in your Bible.
