Five-Year Anniversary

July 22, 2009 by

On July 22, 2004 the first Church Marketing Sucks post appeared. It’s hard to believe we’ve been at this for five years. In Internet terms that makes us a dinosaur. In human terms that makes us a kindergartner.

Thank you for these five years. We’re honored to be a part of the church marketing conversation and we can only hope and pray that above all else the gospel continues to go forward.

Church marketing has come so far in five years, thanks in part to this Web site and Church Marketing Lab, along with examples and coaching provided by megachurches like Granger and North Coast. Churches are no longer years behind the secular businesses when it comes to design, video production and the use of social media.
So I don’t think Church Marketing Sucks anymore. I think it’s pretty cool. How about changing the name of your site to reflect that?
