It’s a short week for us here in the U.S. with Thanksgiving tomorrow. We’ll be deep in a turkey coma so not a lot is going to get done. But is a good time to reflect, to be thankful and to find some inspiration. We’ve got plenty of that.
- Guffaw: For some extra holiday fun, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah overlap this year for the first time in over 100 years. And it won’t happen again for another—get this—79,043 years. It’s spawned a successful Kickstarter project: the Menurkey.
- Glad: Last week we encouraged you to use social media to encourage gratitude. It’s not too late! Besides, churches could borrow a marketing lesson from Thanksgiving.
- Gaudium: Pope Francis is making headlines again, this time with an 85-page pep talk known as “Evangelii Gaudium” (The Joy of the Gospel): “I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security.” Preach it, Pope! You can read the entire thing online or in PDF or check out some choice quotes.
- Gawk: Some inspiring photo collections have been popping up lately, including the 35 most touching photos ever taken and the 26 most thought-provoking photos of all time. Yes, it’s total link bait, but good luck holding back the tears.
- Guilt: This isn’t so inspiring, but remember that waitress who was stiffed because she was gay? Yeah, sounds like it was a hoax. Stupid Internet.
- Gracious: “If you don’t hear crying, the church is dying.” Babies are the future. Is your church a welcoming place for young families?
- Grab: Get all three of our ebooks—Outspoken, Dangerous and Church Communication Heroes—for $7.99 and save $3. We also have a multi-copy pack for your entire staff.
- Grind: Maybe you’ve forgotten the joy of your first day. You’ve given in to the grind. Well, today is a new day.
- Gripe: Interesting question from Tim Peters about the grind of church communication. He thinks we need to be more positive. I think there’s wisdom in avoiding a victim mentality, but ultimately we need to be honest.
- Graffiti: Great story of the how The Gap responded to racist graffiti.
- Gratitude: Kid President has 20 things we should say more often. From the mouth of babes:
