Back in October, Central United Methodist Church in Concord, N.C., hosted the 2014 Connexion Conference, which examined the impact of technology on the church.
The keynote speaker, Meredith Gould, is a renown author, blogger, digital communications consultant and founder of the weekly Twitter-based Church Social Media Chat (#ChSocM).
Her keynote presentation focused on how new media affects ministry. The conference also featured several other speakers addressing a number of other technological topics.
“Virtual community is real community. Whatever happens in so-called real life… happens online. It just happens faster and broader. We are living in a time when we have unprecedented ways to reach people.”
“Digital technology has forever changed how we understand time and timing, identity and authenticity, privacy and disclosure and leadership and authority.”
“Leadership and authority are flattened now. We live in a world where everyone can take authority. It is citizen journalism written large.”
