“I’m just an amateur, but because of my desire to see things ‘done right,’ I got involved,” says David Woll. He’s the worship pastor at Columbia Heights Assembly in Longview, Wash., but he started helping out with communications because no one else could.
David helped his church through a number of big communication challenges, including a redesigned website, a new logo, a communications manual and a plan for signage. It hasn’t been an easy road and some projects rolled out with a few bumps, but David is thankful for the progress.
“Because this was not my area of expertise I was especially hungry for help,” David says. “The Center for Church Communication really helped me think through the big picture and be able to pass on that vision to others.”
Specifically, David found a lot of help in the Church Websites 101 series, a post on creating a communications manual and the book Outspoken: Conversations on Church Communication.
“Outspoken was extremely valuable in helping my church re-think the way we communicate,” David says.
