They Didn’t Teach Marketing In Seminary

February 27, 2007 by

Rev. Matthew Moretz laments that they didn’t teach him marketing in seminary, despite the fact that he does more print jobs than sermons.

But considering the success of his Father Matthew Presents series on YouTube, I don’t think he has anything to worry about.

One reason I never wanted to go to the christian school my church was associated with.

It’s interesting that Fr. Matthew seems to be involved in “church planting” Episcopal Church-style (namely, reopening an old-line Episcopal Church that had been closed and starting over in the old bricks and mortar).
I also note that on his board is the Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of NY (a very progressive Diocese in the Episcopal Church), and I suspect that this may be a new face of the Episcopal Church we are seeing presented here.
As the webmaster of a little Episcopal parish church in NW Connecticut, this YouTube use, the parish website, and the overall approach made me definitely sit up and take notice.
